As Brian announced a few weeks ago, Windows Live is in the midst of releasing a new wave of updates for the web, for your PC, and for mobile devices.
Today we’ve started releasing the first set of updates to our web services, and these will continue to roll out globally over the next 24 hours – including a new version of Windows Live Home, Spaces, Events, and SkyDrive, as well as completely new web services such as Windows Live Groups, Photos, and Profile.
New header for Windows Live
First, you’ll notice a new common header that will be appearing at the top of all Windows Live web pages.
Our goal is to keep this consistent, so you can always find your way around easily. It includes links to all of your Windows Live services, links to great news, stories, videos, and content with MSN, a place to quickly search the web using Live Search, and the sign-in area, in the top-right corner, where you can quickly access your Windows Live account information.
Now, let’s now jump to the new services.
New Windows Live Home
Located at http://home.live.com/, the new home page is the place to start your web browsing. It provides a simple dashboard for all of your communication and sharing activities. At the top, you can see your e-mail, local weather, any private messages that people have left for you, people you might want to add to your network, and upcoming appointments or birthdays. You can customize this area with rich themes – some of which are dynamic and change depending on the time of the day or the weather. And as you can see below, you can also add some of your own pictures to your page to make it a little more personal.
As you move down the page, you’ll notice a preview of your e-mail, and updates on what’s new with people in your network. This “What’s new” list gives you a quick summary of the most recent updates that people in your network have made and decided to share with you. This can include things they’ve done on Windows Live as well as other activities from across the web – like updating a Flickr album, writing reviews on Yelp, and more. The new home page also provides the latest headlines from MSN and other news and information sources that you can add to this page.
Windows Live Photos
Sharing photos is now a much richer and more personalized experience on Windows Live. The first thing you’ll notice when you start sharing a photo album is the new storage limit – 25 GB! With the way digital cameras have been growing in megapixels, we wanted to make sure you had tons of room to save and share plenty of high-resolution photos.
You’ll also notice lots of improvements to the design and usability of this service, the ability to add people tags, simpler commenting, better access to photo information, and easier ways to upload and share your photos. One of the coolest features is a rich photo slide show that gets even better if you have Silverlight installed. We hope you enjoy the dynamic background colors that change based on the colors in your pictures.
Windows Live Profile
Your new profile is the place to decide what information about yourself you want to broadcast. The most prominent feature of the new profile is the “What’s new” list, which shows all of your own recent activities on Windows Live — this is the same information that people in your network will see about you in the “What’s new” list on the home page. Don’t worry, you get to control who sees what information in “What’s new,” for example, when you publish a new photo album, when you change your personal message or display picture, or when you add favorite books, movies, or music to your profile.
But your profile is more than just a place to show all of your Windows Live activities, because you can also add web activities from outside of Windows Live. This includes things like publishing updates on Twitter, adding photos to Flickr, or writing reviews on Yelp. And as you may suspect, we have many more partner updates and additions to come!
This completely new service makes it easier for teams, clubs, and friends to collaborate online.
You can set up owners and members for different groups, and each group gets its own online profile. Plus, each group also has a calendar, SkyDrive folders, and photos. Groups can also have discussion boards that make it easy to share your ideas with the group, and discussions can be saved online for others to see.
Like individual people, groups on Windows Live have their own “What’s new” list that lets everyone know what’s been happening lately with the group.
Spaces continues to be a great place to tell your personal story, show off your photos, or do anything else you might want to do with a blog. And Spaces works really well with Windows Live Writer so that you can write, edit, and preview your blog entries offline, before you publish them to the web.
There are two big updates to Spaces that I want to highlight:
- Removal of the banner ad that used to be at the top – we found that our users dislike having ads on their personal blogs and that this advertising didn’t perform particularly well for advertisers either.
- New default themes, fonts, colors, and other design elements that are now more readable and appealing, and consistent with similar changes elsewhere on Windows Live.
Windows Live Events
Events is the Windows Live service for planning get-togethers, parties, and other events with your friends and family. Like Spaces, this experience has new design updates. The new interface is based on feedback from customers like you, along with design changes that we’ve made across all of Windows Live.
We’ve also added new themes and made it easier to share photos with anyone invited to your event. So after the party, all your guests can easily upload their pictures and share them with the entire party.
Windows Live SkyDrive
SkyDrive is your place for easily storing or sharing files, documents, pictures or anything else. As we mentioned above, you now get 25GB to store files on SkyDrive – whether that’s photos or other kinds of files.
But beyond the storage increases, SkyDrive also has:
- An updated and enhanced design, including rich photo sharing.
- An improved file upload experience, so it’s easier for you to move files from your PC to SkyDrive.
- Flexible controls on who can access your files on SkyDrive – so you can change the permissions on a folder to private, when you want to store files just for yourself, share it with some of your contacts, or make it public, for files you want to share with the entire world.
Discover the updated Windows Live today
The easiest way to really get to know these services is simply to sign in and start using the new Windows Live web services. Get started on the new home page at http://home.live.com/. There’s a ton there – and as we mentioned a few weeks ago, there’s even more to come. Let us know what you’re enjoying with the new updates, and as always, keep sending us your feedback so we can continue to improve Windows Live.
– Dharmesh M. Mehta, Director of Windows Live Product Management
I cannot open certain documents in My Draft Folder WITH VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION, nor can I make a new folder to store any e-mail messages on the left hand side. What\’s up? CANNOT FIND A PHONE # TO CALL AND THE COMPUTER TELLS ME THAT I CANNOT REPORT THIS TO HOTMAIL AT THIS TIME. Please fix this IMMEDIATELY. I have important information stored and now cannot get to it!!!!!! I was not even aware that this change was going to take place. I hate the way I cannot see more than 5 or 6 e-mails at a time on the scroll down list…it is very irritating to have to scroll through endless pages as I have to keep as many as 300 to 400 e-mails on line at a time. HOW CAN YOU FIX THIS…IS ANYONE REALLY PAYING ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEMS YOU HAVE CAUSED EVERYONE OR DO YOU CARE?
Wow, and I thought I was a very hard person to please, at least that\’s what my gf says. But, truth be told, a lot of these "No names" have solid gripes regarding the new Live. I, you should be happy to know, am rolling with the punches and not calling for your heads, but there are some legit issues with some of the changes. And we really need to know you are listening. Many hours are currently being spent reworking, relearning, redoing, reacting negatively to these changes and it would only help things if we got word from up on high that you\’re listening and that you\’re going to do something about it. I mean it\’s the small things, again, that irk me. Hello Live team, we should be able to edit and customize OUR home pages how WE see fit. It does kinda suck, that the Personalized page is gone, COMPLETELY. But what sucks more is that now I have to scrollllll allll the wayyyy down to see every news feed. You didn\’t even bother to auto add the many RSS feeds we painstakenly added to our personalized pages before. Then again of course you didn\’t that would make our ONE column as long as a roll of TP. Let us add AND remove what WE want from our home pages, we should be able to remove MSN from the right column and add whatever we want, or not. This doesn\’t fix the fact that we still have to scrolllll, imagine if you have a lot of feeds, this will quickly grow old. I sincerly believe you guys are trying to please us but seriously, you can\’t continue to change things, see how they work, change it again, see how it works, change it again, see how it works. Am I seeming annoying now? Then you see our point. Please, get back to us.
Doesn\’t seem to be a big hit, does it, this set of un-asked for, unannounced and unsuccessful changes. What happened to the hit counter on the home page? Now, I have to delve into the belly of the beast to find out if anyone has dropped by. 4 clicks minimum where as before I didn\’t need to do anything. Will you admit the gross mistake and undo the changes? Or will you ignore the problems and insist we have to use what is now a joke? You are trying to copy Facebook. You should have learned from Facebook when they changed their settings and there was major outcry. I guess history really is doomed to repeat itself.
Hi! My name is No Name. I used to have a different name but I guess in order to make things easier for you we will all just be No Name. Just another one of the great improvements you\’ve made. On a serious note I hope we get some response to all these very negative comments. It seems that you have angered many people. If that was your objective. Well done!
Why does the help button go to MSN? Is it trying to suggest a better home page? That would be help indeed!
so idiot, super not user friendly designalthough i am IT savvy, i am lost too! super messy!!!pls pls pls reverse back to the previous design!
To the person I can now see is urbnworks – The personalised page is still happily unscathed (at the moment, anyway), just hidden away. try http://my.live.com :-)(but keep quiet about it, or they might remember it\’s there, and bugger it up)
When I log in to my spaces I don\’t have a "new common header". I can\’t get "home" till I go to my profile. Big nuisance. Also when I get to my home page I don\’t like the idea of seeing all my friends comments made on other spaces. What they do is none of my business. Bad idea. I also don\’t like my comments showing up in my profile. Comments posted on other sites aren\’t necessarily private but who in the world at microsoft would even think of forcing us to share them with the world. Bad idea
i love it, this is tottaly sweet, viva live!!!
I like it a lot. Have been waiting for this update before I started to use it heavily.
What a mess! I hate it, change it back please, there was nothing wrong with it before.
I couldn\’t care less about groups, group discussions and photo club, GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! It\’s just not a fun place to be anymore
Good! A good start. Very very much needed start to change for http://www.live.com . STOP those nowhere leading nonexistent links, nonactive icons, that your "Windows Live" icon, *hidden features* /which you are then forced to close, like Expo/. Links are to be shown, not hidden. you see? its the internet.==A common navigation bar is much needed, spanning everything, even http://www.office.live. Make it better then Google.==Do ask your users for feedback, discussion, and go with it.==SHORTCUTS! Are very much needed. Have them ready yesterday. Do you need more people to code it?Thank you. Keep up this good change. Keep it going.http://www.geek.nexo.compshave you noticed the idiocy of http://www.live.com link "Live Search"leading RIGHT back-to-itself :]] http://www.live.com? that IS the funniest .. …… and that is the FIRST home page of the world ! …MS world .. "Windows Live" leads to http://www.home.live.com , http://www.windows.live.com leads to http://www.windowslive.com/home .. com on now :] .. make a decision
I to am not happy with what has happened to "Spaces.Live". This looks a lot like facebook and I hate it. Please reverse back to the way spaces live was. If it ain\’t broke don\’t fix it.
Pleeease put my spaces page back to how it was!!!!!!!! Its not user friendly, its very confusing, Ive lost nearly all of my friends, i cannot get onto any of the friends spaces that I have left!!!!!!!!!!Put it back, there was nothing wrong with the old style!!!!!!!!
Well, now this is real great, now I can\’t even find my own blog. Windows Live in their wisdom have lost all of my blog photos, my setup everything is gone. All there is now is my profile, and the Home page, how wonderfull.
Wow. The new Windows Live is great. You\’ve all done an excellent job.
@ josh & a few others – what site are you looking at? The one I\’m looking at is full of broken or missing links. Or are you just happy with a pretty picture at the top?
Not only is there no export plugin for Lightroom or Apeture for Windows Live Photos which makes things a two step process of having to convert the raw files to jpgs (saved on my computer ina folder) then upload with one of the tools (Gallery or Explorer). Once the photos are uploaded to Windows Live Photos it has to upload the photos again to the photo print service. After that I need to select the contacts I want to share the photos with form the online photo album. All in all 45min to an hour wasted of my time need to monitor all the steps. In contrast, all I do (for example) with the Picasa Export Plugin for Lightroom. Is define my export with the plugin. The photos are imported as jpgs to the Picasa Online Album, they are sent to print with snapfish, and they are shared with my contacts via email all with the press of one button. "Export" Taking me a total of maybe 5 seconds. What are you people doing over there at Microsoft????
Change it back!! You can\’t even move one thing from the right column to the left, only up and down.
Can you allow us to enable the old events????? Our WHOLE wedding event is done through the event feature and all of our HARD work in setting this up with modules and maps and lists etc HAS GONE!!.. sorry to sound angry.. but I really do need it all back. Is there a way to do this? Please………
kewl, there are some really exciting things going on here, I cant wait for the day when I can link to anything and everything through one place 🙂
Good lock, every body!
I really hate the new spaces! It changed while I was using it. The old way was so much better looking. This new way looks like someone very hastily added a couple links to a blog site they made so it would do more. The old way had much more professional look. I really miss the old way even though I only used it for a few hours. PLEASE CONSIDER CHANGING IT BACK!!!
ok…can anyone tell me how to use messenger? I used to click on home and then be able to use messenger..is it gone? please help
What about those of us who DON\’T want to link to anything, everything & everybody! And I sure don\’t want updates regarding everybody in my contact list! I just spent about 45 minutes trying to get my privacy back! At least they didn\’t do what google did & turn their IM on by default!
@ Wedding stashandan.com: Are you sure the event is gone? We have had a few temporary outages today during our first day of the new release. Please try again to see if your event is showing up again as normal. You\’ll find events under the More menu at the top of the home page. If you don\’t see it in the next 24 hours, please contact http://support.live.com with your issue. Best of luck.
I have been trying to get used to the new "Updates" but I can\’t. I usually adjust to change really well but these "updates" (more like making-spaces-suck-dates if you ask me) are not very good. Please, PLEASE CHANGE BACK! I CAN\’T STAND IT MUCH LONGER! Sorry to sound angry but I really hate these "updates".
Where are the customizations? I see that I will be using http://www.live.com as my home page again until more customizations are available. ( Not interested in Networks ) That\’s what Facebook is for. ANYONE AGREE OUT THERE??
I finally found the viewing statistics (Options?) but nobody seems to be viewing. Little wonder; everybody is lost. Is there still a way to search for blogs using keywords? I still can\’t find that. Now that I am here, how do I get back to my own blog? The Back button? Really?
does anybody know how to IM??? is it gone???
Congratulations on this, it looks very impressive and convincing with a nice suit and balanced in presentation. This makes a difference!
Hi Windows Live team, thanks for your response below. I\’ve logged a support ticket, its not that my event has gone its that everything in it other than photos, event details and the guest list has disappeared with the changes. Our entire wedding is being managed through this basically.. so we are rather upset since we don\’t have a copy of a lot of stuff from the site. Hopefully I can get help through the help ticket. Thanks. Stash.
Isn\’t the Windows Live Team Blog theme available to everyone?
I like the old Windows spaces format, this new format has several disadvantages which I find very annoying, like in the new spaces photo albums you can no longer drag and rearrange your jpegs to where you want them. also the full screen option is no longer available i the new spaces photo albums and slideshow. this is very disagreeable. finally I like the old orginal format much better as it was much more versatile than this new one. Sometimes the new is not better or an improvement. PLEASE SWITCH IT BACK TO THE PREVIOUS SPACES FORMAT.
I cannot compose a email help I do not have a current words system do I need this before I can compose a email.I have b=nevr had any problems before only since Hotmail has been upgraded.
When are you going to start behaving in a professional manner here? You created a user-friendly venue which enabled people to connect with friends around the world then in a matter of hours rendered it awkward, difficult to navigate, and EXTREMELY hazardous regarding issues of privacy and identity.Stop behaving as if you were doing this as a hobby, people.
To Phil:There is a full screen mode after you click the SlideShow. It is not in the same old place if that\’s what you are complaining.
Something fresh, some cool Photo to SkyDrive consolidation, and more confusing. Ok, I am going to be really harsh here. I originally type it longer but I keep losing what I typed. So this will be short and harsh.That\’s be realistic. Space is a MySpace rip-off and Profile is Facebook rip-off. Yes, both Space and Profile exist in old MSN, but not behave like the current service (old Space is MSN Group). But the problem is both MySpace and Facebook are two different service that provide different need. When Live Team copy them, the same thing happens, Space and Profile are two different entity. So now, what should I use? Profile or Space? Obviously Space is Hidden deep inside the new header, so Profile is the main show here. But I think this is bad way of offering Space and Profile like this. They should be good buddies. Profile and Space should be one domain that offers complete experience from both services; not separate services.Live Service is still messy messy. There is no focus. Instead of building and improving existing offering. It hide one and promote the new ripoff. Really, I don\’t think this is the way it should be.
I tryied to acess my files in my skyDive at my school but when i go to acess it it just says this page can not be displayed when using any windows XP computer th older versions all the way to internet explore 7. Alos is ther a way to save it directly so when i am working on a document is SkyDIve it will save after saying say in any of office 2003 or 2007 programs. Also for your windows live groups an you have it where it will work for everyone so they do not have to have a windows live id.
yes JERMING is right!
I just want to request a "change to old Spaces" button….All the work you\’ve done is great…but VERY complicated…We used to have every information in our home page…now we keep searching…and searching….I feel like a granny trying to learn how to blog…. 😦
Hi WinLiveTeam, first of all congratulations on the new site. Keep up the good work, there are things that still need some polish.Just one question, i have the premium account because i REALLY hate the ad banners but i still have ine on my calendar. Could you check that pls? Thanks a lot.
MSN seems to violate its own Privacy Policy. The release of personal information for public view without the express permission of users is inconsistent with the policy and plain illogical. Some may be "former users" who now have personal information exposed and will not know that it is now in public view. BIG TIME MISTAKE AND POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO LEGAL PROBLEMS!
Suggestions and Concerns.Suggestion: A better header. The current header filled with less important features (People) and hide more important services (Space). I recommend the following example.Home……Office:Mail…….Social:Profile………..SkyDrive:Photo.If you click Office:Mail, you end up in Live Office Offering, the Hotmail. When you move your mouse on Office:Mail, a big pop up sub-menu will show up. It will be a horizontal menu right underneath the button.Sub Menus:Office: Hotmail, Calender, Contact/People, Event, GroupSocial: Profile, Details, Space, Network, Message Center (private message, invitations, and more)SkyDrive: Main, Photo (Not that the SkyDrive:Photo link to Photo Main Page, this is because Photo is the main focus)Concerns:The overall Social experience is a confusing place. The Profile does not expose hotmail account name, but when you click Space, the space name give it out. Then, what\’s the point of encrypting Profile number? When I click space, I know your account is WindowsLieWire and your hotmail account will be exposed. The social offering is really messy. It has both MySpace and Facebook, probably Twiter in the future. But the security and experience are separated. It makes experience really inconsistent. I really hope you guys can rethink about your social offer and stop copying other people, but to offer an unique experience that everything comes together nicely.
So, if you don\’t mind my asking, just what is going on? WHY are there ads on my Windows Live calendar? I\’m PAYING for the service specifically so I won\’t have ads! Could SOMEONE please address this?
🙂 brb
I am so tired of MSN using the word "rich" with everything. Regardless of all these social networking updates, you\’ve removed the great Photo album features from Spaces that stood you apart from Facebook & MySpace. Now we can\’t organize or even add captions to new photos. I\’ve maintained a Spaces page for 3 years (and paid extra to keep it ad-free too). Gosh, I\’m honestly shocked you guys did this and then act surprised at the negative feedback you\’ve gotten. Please restore the old features.
Well thank you very much for completely spoiling Spaces. If I wanted to join Facebook, I would have… BUT I DON\’T. I joined Spaces as I found it quite easy to get the hang of. Now it has gone mad. It will be easier to find another place to blog than try and work out what is happening here. And how dare you make my name open to the world without my permission? We are not all computer geeks around here. I am of the older generation and just do not need all this.
I\’m thinking just the same as Jane! All she say it\’s true, this new version is so stupid. And why there is no HTML-options in the guestbooks????????????????????http://bytellu.spaces.live.com/
How to change the background color in slide show for photos? I have Silverlight installed on my computer.
I think it\’s better. This is just like the new Facebook. People complained and complained… 😀
What\’s happend to Windows Live Messenger Beta? I can\’t log in.I get error code: 81000451
@ Jacob Olander: For help with this error, please go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958574l.
@Jane, Your last name isn\’t public. I don\’t see it when I go to your profile. Just because you see it on your profile doesn\’t mean others can.
@ JERMING – You\’re Hotmail account/username doesn\’t have to match your WL Spaces URL. They can be completely different.
People I know that change is hard and we don\’t like it. But this thing just got released. Give it some time to use it and get to know it. I am sure at the end of the day you will be happy with it. It\’s not harder, its just different…..
Stuff and nonsense! And the suggestion that those of us who do not like having been made part of some grand social network are somehow knuckle dragging luddites is offensive.It\’s NOT how HARD it is, it\’s the PREMISE I for one don\’t like! I don\’t like it, not because it\’s DIFFERENT, it\’s the DIFFERENCE I don\’t like! They didn\’t just enhance my email, or offer me a new service, they linked my personal information and contacts across a variety of modules without my permission, without even asking if I was interested!good grief
This new update isn\’t good, it\’s excellent. It\’s works perfect to small business, familiy & friends, from web through pc to mobil. The best christmas present from Microsoft. Thanks 🙂
We already had this discussion last week, didn\’t we? Here\’s a couple of things to consider:1. If you\’re only using Hotmail or Spaces, then this update really doesn\’t affect you much. WL has added new capabilities, sure, but they haven\’t fundamentally changed anything about the individual services. The exception may be Photos. Because of the integration with SkyDrive, we seem to have (temporarily) lost the ability to rearrange our albums. However, Microsoft has confirmed that they\’ll focus on adding this functionality back as soon as possible.2. You can keep your profile and contact information as private as you like. Most people don\’t see the level of detail about you that you see. You really need to understand the types of people that WL considers to be in your network.3. We\’re smack in the middle of a massive roll-out of WL services that\’s nowhere near complete. Later this week, we\’ll see additional Windows Live Essentials programs that run on the desktop. WL People is set to be upgraded mid-December. Hotmail is getting at least 2 more updates (one of which will integrate Messenger in the web interface, how cool is that?) in the next few months. By the time all is said and done, you\’ll have a robust suite of tools for managing your online world.Microsoft is not trying to emulate Facebook. They\’re trying to take the best features and build something even better. And did I mention, IT\’S FREE. C\’mon folks, give it a chance.
@Greg: good grief man, give it a rest. We all know what\’s happening. Some of us just don\’t like it.A "robust suite of tools for managing your online world"? What does that even mean? That only needs the word "rich" inserted a couple of times to have come straight out of Redmond.Oh, what\’s the use?
@ Larry – So you have every right to complain at the top of your lungs, but I can\’t be a vocal proponent of WL? Rubbish.I think it\’s pretty self-evident what I mean by "tools for managing your online world," but perhaps that\’s part of the problem: you don\’t really understand the grand scheme of WL. You\’re stuck in a world where email is the pinnacle of collaboration.WL means having more than just email (Hotmail) and personal calendar online (which are awesome in their own right); but also a summary of what\’s important to you, including updates from others you know and news feeds (Home); information about different kinds of online contacts that can update automatically when they change it (People); a place where others can see what\’s new with you (Profile); a personal space where you can share your interests and ideas (Spaces); safe and accessible online storage for all kinds of media, including photos and favorites (SkyDrive); and a single password that controls it all (Live ID). And that\’s just the stuff you can do online.Wait until you see what WL has in store for devices. It\’s going to be awesome.
@ the complainers- If you don\’t like the WL suite, then don\’t use it. Simple as. No one is making you.
@ Greg Edwards when he says this some posts down — "Hotmail is getting at least 2 more updates (one of which will integrate Messenger in the web interface, how cool is that?)"Its quite cool. So cool that gmail did it ages ago.
I can\’t see the whole email that I receive or that I write without scrolling back and forth. It didn\’t use to be like this. I can\’t change the font color except to the few in the drop down box. In the other hotmail, you had a choice of custom colors. Where did that go? Also, I can\’t open up any email prior to January 1, 2008. So, I basically have lost thousands of emails. All I get is a yellow box saying send this to Microsoft support. And, the ads on the top are so big and so annoying. Why have you sold us out? Hotmail is awful now. Why couldn\’t you leave it alone or give us a choice?
There are many visual improvements but I have two severe problems due to this upgrade:1) I lost about 500 friends in my network; I have read somewhere that a batch program is fixing this; I hope this is true2) All pictures that I have posted the last two years (with Windows Live) have become unvisible for public; only I can read them; this makes my articles very ugly with big black squares. The servicedesk has been looking at this and forwarded to problem to the project team (the problem might be fixed in a new Live upgrade); can you imagine that I am terribly, terribly MAD!Joey.
I just wish I could get my blog (Space) looking like Christina\’s! It looks brill! Looks to be full screen width as well! Tell me the secret, or which theme she is using.
The aesthetics are great, thanks for the hard work. Yeah I have a few issues but all in all thank you for providing this platform for all to use.
@Technogran – Glad you like it! The picture of Christina\’s space above is using "Live Earth – Green" theme in the Nature category. That theme is not available in all regions, so hopefully, it is available in yours. If you are talking about the picture of Christina\’s profile (the one with the moon and clouds), that one is available for your profile and other pages, but not for Spaces, which has a different (and larger) set of themes. On your profile or home page, click Options (upper right), then More themes, to see all the themes available to you. Best of luck!- Antonia, editor for Windows Live
I for one will be happy to see the new Header. It will be so much easier to reurn to our spaces.
This is simply brilliant!! Am just waiting to get my friends on to this network. One query, am using Google Chrome and am facing two issues:1. Can\’t compose new mails. The cursor never appears2. Photo tagging was not working. Is it similar to facebook, where we can select the person in the photo and then choose a name?
It turns out that Windows Live Photo Services (both offline and online parts) do not support EXIF rotation attribute. It seems that this software defect is inherited from Windows Vista Gallery software. Picasa(!), Photoshop, IrfanView, ACDSee all suport EXIF orientation attribute both in RAW data file and JPEGs.Live Gallery has a lame option to rotate pictures during "import from camera".Suprisingly, people who tend to use "import from camera" feature don\’t use portrait mode. But people who prefer to copy pictures directly from CompactFlash card and also have achives with thousands of pictures on their hard drives do use portrait mode a lot.I would like Microsoft services were betther than competitors\’. This error is a showstopper.
The new look of Spaces is not better than the old.I am calling you to turn it buck or to give this opotiunity to any one like to turn to the old.If someone constract something like The old Spaces, we will go there all together. Many many thanks, Achilleas.
I can\’t log in to Window live messenger. It kicks me out automatically. I can\’t even change the order of my photos!! Can someone please fix this simple problem???
@ Noel Chien, please check for answers to your Messenger issues at http://messenger-support.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!8B3F39C76A8B853F!13941.entry. Thanks for your feedback about not being able to re-order photos in an album. We\’ve heard similar feedback from others about this issue, and the team is investigating a solution.
when will you move off the top ad in Hotmail? I really can not wait, hehe~~~
"Windows Live Home". So good, I made it my Homapage:-) Everything else is lovely, too. Hey, how come I haven\’t seen this blog yet? It never came up as an update. Oh, silly me. It\’s probably because I wasn\’t using Live Home at the time it was written.
I must say that ; New windows live mail page and home spaces it\’s realy bad. Bıut windows live messenger and home page , spaces photos it\’s cool 🙂
Hi, I have to say after trying to re-order photos within an album and trying to re-order the albums themselves for 2 hours I give up. Updates, changes in the system and interface are always good as long as the basics are not forgotten. A basic when it comes to photos is the ability to re-order them. In the past we were able to re-order pictures and albums. Could you please fix this issue as soon as possible and when done announce it to us? Thanks…Wendy
I cannot re-arrange photos within the album as we can do in the old version. It is a problem for many users. What happen? Why the new version is worse than the old one. (T_T)Please fix it asap. We are waiting for your help. Thx.
I have the same problem with re-ordering photos in the same album. It used to be such an easy job. I just cannot figure out how to do it now in the new version…
I tried changing file names and re-upload them. It does not work either. I think they are ordered based on the time they were taken…but there is no way for me to change that info…
The lack of an option to change the order of photos in SkyDrive is driving me crazy.. it\’s probably the most important feature for anyone who enjoys displaying their photographs on their Spaces page ~ such a shame as the new photo slide show is very impressive but not when you cannot re-arrange the order of your pics ! I\’m sure many people would agree & the lack of any changes to this is very disapointing..
So I am not going crazy! Other people are complaining about something which I have been trying to figure out. YES! I have to change the order of my photos. And it is April already, and this has not been fixed? I love the 25 GB.
