As Steve Ballmer just announced during his keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Windows Live has three big pieces of news to share with you that underscore our continued commitment to simplifying your digital life.
First of all, today we’re releasing the final version of Windows Live Essentials, our suite of downloadable programs for your Windows PC. You can get Windows Live Essentials, including Messenger, Mail, Photo Gallery, Writer, Toolbar, and Family Safety, all for free from http://download.live.com. (Windows Live Movie Maker is also available, but remains in beta.)
Our second big announcement is that Dell will be including Windows Live Essentials pre-installed on most of their consumer and small business PCs worldwide starting in February. Because Windows Live Essentials helps with so many of the things that you do every day on your PC (like e-mail, instant messaging, and photo sharing), now when you get a new Dell PC, you can get started as soon as you take it home.
And finally, we’re excited to announce that you’ll soon be able to add Facebook as one of 50+ web activities on Windows Live. This means that in the coming months, if you’re a Facebook user, you can choose to allow info and photos that you post on Facebook to show up in “What’s new” for anyone in your network on Windows Live.

I tried to install the new live messenger but I failed. I received error messages. I tried and tried again. It kept rolling back after each RE-installations. What can I do?

Wow .. I am rading that problem to Audio / Video is the McAfee .. I just installed McAfee security before downloading New version 14.0.8050.1202 of windows live.. TRYING TO FIX THE MCAFEE FIREWALL WILL NOT WORK. MAYBE WINDOWS LIVE CAN COME UP WITH A SOLUTION WHY THEIR MESSENGER IS NOT WORKING WITH MCAFEE SECURITY SOFTWARE.
@ Emma: I ended up going with Norton Security. Since then I have no problems with audio and video setup and my video cam works on the new messenger.

I really enjoy the new/updated WL applications. However Movie Maker (beta) continues to lack support for WTV format that my Media Center creates. This is problematic since I used to rely upon Vista Movie Maker to do all my DVRMS editing. Hopefully this will be rectified sometime soon?
@ JamesI refuse to use Norton, I have had problems with them in the past and with that I believe they are the worst internet security and make up there own viruses, just to fix them. or so I have heard, thanks.

my new windows live essential messenger was working fine. but now when i clikck the icon of messenger on desktop nothing happen. i try to reinstall it but website told me it is already installed. i try to uninstall it from comtroll panal but there is not option to uninstall. so, can\’t install goback to messenger 8.5 andc new one don\’t work. i am busted by microsoft…

What has happened to SharedView? http://www.sharedview.com used to be listed in the Activities on Live messenger but has gone missing. Can you restore it please? SharedView is a great Microsoft product but seems to be missing in action here.

Hi I was wondering if there was a way I could download the Movie Maker without having to update the messenger. I know that the update of the messenger does not have sharing folders therefore I don\’t want to update it. I really want the Movie Maker. Help!
Haven\’t found anything on us 64 bit users yet. I have XP pro 64 bit and can honestly say I love the windows live stuff but not being able to use it is a pain. Mainly Live Mail, can\’t use that at all. I don\’t want to go back to my 32 bit version and lose 3 gigs of extra ram, I do a lot of high end graphics and such. Speaking of which, I have a bone to pick with the Java crew as well. 64 bit is the future, why else put out so many dual core processors when you can\’t use them to their full potential? I thought Microsoft of all would be all over this but guess not *sigh* so I go without my live mail and such for now. Other than that, so far I am highly impressed with all the live services and such, excellent.
I\’ve tried for several weeks to import my facebook activities onto my Windows Live profile, but everytime it gives me a technical error and that I should try again in a few minutes. Mind you, it has been doing this for weeks.
My livecam VX6000 will not show up in live messenger in one profile but does in two others. I am using Vista 32bit operating system. I can\’t find anything different between the profiles for the cam.

Weird, the problem was fixed, maybe the facebook option was there, but not until now it is functioning
I installed Windows Live Essentials but there is not sharing folder so I re-installed an old version of Windows Live Messenger.Are we eventually have sharing folder in the new Essentials. I really liked the Essentials, it looks very good.

Why does Microsoft create a whole new suite of applications which mimic the applications already bundled with Windows Vista. Instead of upgradign the existing bundled applications we now have to have 2 image gallery, 2 windows messenger, 2 windows mail programs its stupid.

i am unable to download the new version of Windows Live Messenger on one of my computers. I get a message saying that to make sure im connected to the internet. Well, My windows live messenger told me to update, so i clicked the link it provided, It opened the page yet said this page is unavailable. Everytime i go to download a newer version of windows live it says it cant display the page, ive been searching for hours and i cant even log onto my windows live as it just tells me to update as soon as i try, It\’s really annoying Does anyone have any suggestions ? Ive also checked my firewall and that isnt blocking it. so im outta ideas
